Doug Campbell
is an entrepreneur, an executive financial consultant to the life sciences industry, and owns and operates real estate properties. He is a former naval officer and enjoys playing the guitar and a good murder mystery. The Barn is Campbell's first foray into creative writing, a mystery novella he co-authored with John Casey. They are currently writing a sequel that will be released by PHiR Publishing.
JOHN CASEY
is an award-winning novelist and Pushcart Prize-nominated poet from New Hampshire. His first novel, Devolution, was released in 2019 and is book one of The Devolution Trilogy, a psychological spy thriller series. Evolution was released 2021, Revelation in 2022--an NIEA finalist for Best Political Thriller of the Year and a Best Thrillers Awards finalist for Best Spy Thriller of the Year. Casey authored Raw Thoughts in 2019 as well, a compelling and mindful fusion of poetic and photographic art that garnered noms for the Griffin Poetry Prize and National Book Award. The sequel, Meridian: A Raw Thoughts Book, was released in 2021. His latest title is a philosophical poetry book titled Things of Little Consequence, and he is a co-author of The Barn: A Mystery Novella. Casey's poetry has appeared internationally in numerous literary journals and magazines. He is now working on Death Code: A Michael Dolan Spy Thriller, to be released by PHiR in 2025.
A Veteran combat and test pilot with a Master of Arts from Florida State University, Casey also served as a diplomat and international affairs strategist at U.S. embassies in Europe and Africa, at the Pentagon, and elsewhere. He is passionate about fitness, nature, and travel and inspired by the incredible spectrum of people, places and cultures he has experienced in life.
LOU EARLE
is a writer, entrepreneur, and business executive with roots in corporate America. He is the author of The Mac Sisco Trilogy, a cabalistic spy thriller series. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and served four years in the United States Navy as a member of the Naval Security Group during the Vietnam War. He spent his final two years of service at the National Security Agency (NSA) in Fort Meade, Maryland.
Lou was the founding Chairman of Badgerdog Literary Publishing Company, a not-for-profit that published the literary digest American Short Fiction and provided outreach writing courses through Youth Voices in Ink for disenfranchised children in central Texas. He is also the owner, CEO, and publisher of Austin Fit Magazine, a health and fitness magazine.
Married with three children and three grandchildren, Lou and his wife Lynne live on a ranch in Wimberley, Texas with a menagerie of furry friends including one miniature bull, four dogs, two chickens, and a marvelous Rag Doll cat.
SCOTT HUSSEY
is a professional photographer based in his native state of New Hampshire. Scott teamed with author John Casey to produce Raw Thoughts: A Mindful Fusion of Poetic and Photographic Art, and Meridian: A Raw Thoughts Book. An accomplished commercial, portrait, and wedding photographer, Raw Thoughts and Meridian were Scott’s first foray into the realm of fine art photography. Scott also took the photographs used on the covers of Casey's The Devolution Trilogy.
Scott's first published photography book, Living Through Cancer was a collaborative effort as well. The book featured portraits of cancer survivor alongside their stories, and was distributed to regional chemotherapy facilities in an effort to help cancer patients understand that there is, indeed, life after a diagnosis of cancer. Two of the portraits from this project were later published by the BBC World Service as part of their 2011 World Cancer Day.
Hussey's commercial photography work has been published internationally in a variety of industry-specific trade publications. A second-generation commercial photographer, Hussey's photography education came not in a classroom, but in the studio, working alongside his father, Michael Hussey. The work produced for Raw Thoughts and Meridian is a return to those roots. Many of the photographs were shot using vintage film cameras using the same Mamiya 645 camera Scott first learned on.
RYAN A. KOVACS
is an award-winning author from Rochester, NY who loves to travel, meet new people and have profound conversations. His writing stems from his experiences and the many different personalities he’s met throughout the years. Poetry is what moves him, and his true talent lies in storytelling. His first published book is titled I Considered You, which he followed up with The N.M.E., both novels in verse. The N.M.E. (second edition) was released in March of 2022 by PHiR Publishing. With his novels-in-verse CREATE DESTRUCTION and DESTROY CREATION, Kovacs won the 2022 and 2023 Literary Titan Book Awards, respectively.
Kovacs served in the United States Army and continues to serve in the Air National Guard. He is a family man who surrounds himself with like-minded people, and has never been one to shy away from uncomfortable topics. Give him a beer and he’ll provide the storytelling.
JIM METZNER
is best known as the producer of the award-winning Pulse of the Planet radio series and podcast and for his soundscape recordings from around the world. Sacred Mounds is his first novel. He is currently working on a nonfiction book project.
After studying acting at Yale Drama School, he enjoyed a brief career as a singer-songwriter in London. He has been producing sound-rich audio programs since 1977. Pulse of the Planet has been on the air since 1988. For many years, Jim produced features and commentaries for All Things Considered, Marketplace, Weekend Edition and other public radio programs. He has received major grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Grammy Foundation.
Stories about Jim's work have appeared in Audio Magazine (cover story), the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, National Geographic, the Today Show and the CBS Evening News. His forty-year archive of sounds is now reposited in the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. A beekeeper and avid fly-fisherman, Jim resides in New York’s Hudson River Valley with his wife Eileen.
